Conference Aims
The conference is being organized as part of a three year project at Liverpool Hope University, which is funded by DFID, to develop active global learners and embed the global dimension within Hope’s Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme and through its partnership schools. The project is being carried out in partnership with Liverpool World Centre and Manchester Development Education Project and one of its key aims is to capture and disseminate learning to schools, ITE providers and other organisations, including children’s’ workforce representatives. This conference offers an opportunity to showcase and share good practice in delivering the global dimension, both from within Hope’s project and from a range of schools and other experts in the North West and across the UK. The conference is also being supported by Knowsley Children and Family Services and has the following aims:
p
§ To raise awareness of the Global Dimension and how it can be embedded across the school curriculum and through Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
§ To showcase and share good practice between schools, ITE providers, Non-Governmental / Organisations (NGOs) and the children’s’ workforce.
§ To identify the support available to teachers, school leaders and ITE providers across the region.
§ To explore links with key agendas such as Sustainable Schools, Community Cohesion, International School Award and Every Child Matters.
p
The conference is particularly suitable for head teachers, international and global dimension co-ordinators, teachers, ITE/higher education tutors, NGOs and children’s’ workforce representatives.
